Liplift

Male (or aging female) lips more often give a longer aspect of the upper lip with less projection and visibility of the teeth. To achieve youthful female lips, we make the lips a little shorter, giving more projection and visibility of the teeth. For this, we address both the shape and volume of the lips: the shape is adjusted through an incision where the distance between the nose and upper lip is reduced and greater volume is obtained through (lipo)fillings. 

What makes a lip masculine or feminine?

Male lips

• Male ones are generally thinner.
• The contour of male lips can be more angular and sharper.
• Male lips generally have less volume and are less full.
• The color of male lips may generally be less red.

Female lips

• Female lips tend to have a fuller appearance.
• The contours of female lips tend to be softer and more rounded.
• Female lips typically have more volume and are fuller.
• Female lips usually have a redder or pinker hue.

Procedure

Dr. O. Beckers and Dr. M. Van Genechten perform several lip surgeries to shape the lips. Below are the procedures:

1. Lip elevator - This procedure shortens the distance between the nose and the upper lip. The teeth are more exposed and the upper lip is subtly rolled outward.
2. Mid facelift to elevator the corners of the mouth - This procedure focuses on correcting drooping corners of the mouth, creating a more youthful and lifted appearance of the lips.
3. Lipofilling the lips - A fat grafting is an excellent way to permanently and naturally add volume to the lips.

Recovery

One week after the surgery, you will have recovered quite a bit. However, full recovery from these surgeries can take 6 months to 1 year.
