DHI
Direct Hair Implantation
The DHI method stands for direct hair implantation and differs from the traditional FUE and FUT methods. No channels or incisions are made in the treated area.
An important part of the DHI method is the choi pen. This instrument is used to harvest and implant the hairs. It provides very precise positioning of the hair follicles and minimizes the risk of damaging the hair roots. This ensures optimal results with natural-looking hair growth.
Aftercare for both direct hair implantation and traditional techniques is approximately 12 months.
Procedure
A hair transplant using the DHI method proceeds as follows:
Step 1: Anesthesia
Before treatment begins, your head is prepared and anesthetized.
Step 2: Removal of the grafts
After the local anesthesia, "harvesting" can begin. Hair follicles or grafts are removed from the donor area with a DHI implanter or Choi pen.
Step 3: Implanting the grafts
When using the DHI Implanter or Choi pen, the grafts are inserted directly into the skin, without the need to first open channels in the recipient area. This significantly reduces the risk of bleeding during the implantation process.
Step 4: Aftercare
After the hair transplant, your scalp will be treated and a bandage will be applied. In addition, you will receive helpful instructions over the next few days on what to expect after a hair transplant.
Advantages
Advantages of the DHI method:
- Lasting results
- No scars visible
- Natural result
- A minimum of sensitivity during and after the procedure
- Less visible wounds
- Faster healing process
- It is not necessary to shave the entire hair, only the donor area
For Who?
The DHI method is not suitable for people with very curly, thin or frizzy hair. These brittle hairs are easily damaged in the process and are more difficult to fit into the DHI Implanter.
Also those dealing with the following:
- Low blood pressure
- Cardiac arrhythmias
- Blood thinners
- Diabetes
