Pain-free electrolysiswith local anesthesia
Table of contents:
Electrolysis hair removal is known as a highly effective method for permanent hair removal, but it can also be perceived as uncomfortable. The sensation varies from person to person, ranging from a mild tingling feeling to something comparable to a snapping elastic band against the skin. Since each hair is treated individually, this sensation can repeat throughout the session.
At our clinic, this does not have to be a barrier. By using local anesthesia, we make electrolysis treatments comfortable and virtually pain-free.

What determines pain during electrolysis?
The level of discomfort depends on several factors:
- Treatment area
Sensitive areas such as the upper lip tend to be more uncomfortable than areas like the eyebrows or chin. - Individual pain tolerance
- Duration of the session
To ensure maximum comfort, we integrate medical-grade pain control into our treatments.
Pain-free electrolysis with local anesthesia
With local anesthesia, the treated area becomes temporarily numb, allowing you to undergo the procedure with little to no pain.
How does local anesthesia work?
- Small, targeted injections are used to numb the treatment area
- One injection covers an area approximately the size of a coin
- Multiple injections are used depending on the size of the area
- As treatment progresses, additional areas are numbed step by step
For example, when treating the chin, several small injections are typically required to fully numb the area.
Which anesthetic is used?
We use Xylocaine 1% with adrenaline, a widely used local anesthetic in both medical and aesthetic procedures.
- Fast and effective numbing
- Controlled, localized action
- Enables a comfortable treatment experience
Side effects and safety
Local anesthesia is generally very safe.
Possible effects include:
- Temporary tingling as the anesthesia wears off
- Mild sensitivity at the injection site
Serious side effects are extremely rare when performed correctly.
Are there any downsides?
Transparency is important.
- The injections themselves may be briefly uncomfortable
- More sensitive areas (such as the upper lip) can be slightly more painful during injection
- Patients with a fear of needles may need some mental preparation
It is important to remain still during injections to ensure safe and precise administration.
Practical information
- With local anesthesia, most patients can tolerate long sessions of up to 8 hours per day
- This allows for more intensive treatments and faster overall progress
- We recommend having a good breakfast before your session
⚠️ Please note: the anal area is not treated.
